Pashinyan, Aliyev ‘discussed Karabakh peace’ in St Petersburg

Armenia’s acting prime minister discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) with the Azerbaijani president as he met him on the sidelines of the CIS leaders’ non-formal summit in St Petersburg, Russia, Trend.az reports, citing a presidential aid.

“The possibility of continuing the active talks to settlie the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and the strengthening of ceasefire were discussed at the meeting” Ilham Aliyev’s spokesperson, Hikmet Hajiyev, told the Azerbaijani agency.
Highlighting the “relative peace”, observed along the Line of Contact, he said that the situation is now “highly contributive to substantive and extensive conflict settlement talks.” Meantime, Hajiev warned against freezing the processes or maintaining the current status-quo.
He said that the two leaders discussed “the swap of prisoners” arrested and detained between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was in St Petersburg on Thursday to attend the summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
