Turkey closed border with Armenia for Azerbaijan, says former envoy

A former Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan has expressed his country’s support to Azerbaijan in the long-running Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict.

Hulusi Kılıç, who served on a diplomatic mission in Baku, made the statement in the town of Tokat which was hosting celebration dedicated to Azerbaijan’s 100th anniversary. The event was also attended by Khazar Ibrahim, the Azerbaijani ambassador in Ankara.

“We have closed the Armenian-Turkish border for Azerbaijan. That’s virtually an unseconded example – when a state closes its border for the sake of another state. This demonstrates how close Turkey and Azerbaijan are to each other,” the diplomat said.
He added that he is ready not to spare his life for the sake of Artsakh’s “return to Azerbaijan”.
