Somebody recently contacted us and told us how her great grandmother, who was from a place near Myriophyto (today Mürefte) in Eastern Thrace, was placed in a concentration camp some time between 1912 and 1915 and during that time was given a 5 digit numbered tattoo on her lower arm (wrist). We know that Armenians were tattooed during the Armenian Genocide and Jews were tattooed during the Jewish Holocaust, but the news of Greeks being tattooed is something new to us.
