Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his address at the UN General Assembly, announced his support for “establishing a lasting peace” between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Erdogan noted that Turkey’s position on the situation in the South Caucasus is “clear.” “We hope for a lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We appreciate and support the determination of [Azerbaijani] President [Ilham] Aliyev and [Armenian] Prime Minister [Nikol] Pashinyan to find a solution,” the Turkish leader said.
Erdogan added that Turkey intends to continue the process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
