The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Chicago (consular district covering the States of Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota) was officially inaugurated on March 22, 2018. A ribbon cutting ceremony at the Armenia’s new consular office in downtown Chicago and the official installation of the Honorary Consul of Armenia – Mr. Oscar Tatosian, were followed by a sold-out diplomatic reception in Chicago’s historic Union League Club. The gathered were addressed by Chicago’s mayor Honorable Rahm Emanuel, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Barsamian and Ambassador Hovhannissian. The events drew over 400 guests including House Representatives from Illinois and members of the Chicago consular corps and numerous members of the Armenian American community.
2018թ. մարտի 22-ին տեղի ունեցավ Չիկագոյում Հայաստանի Հանրապետության պատվո հյուպատոսության բացման պաշտոնական արարողությունը (հյուպատոսական շրջանը ներառում է ԱՄՆ Իլինոյ, Միսուրի, Այովա, Վիսկոնսին ու Մինեսոտա նահանգները): Չիկագոյի կենտրոնում գտնվող Հայաստանի նոր հյուպատոսական ներկայացուցչությունում տեղի ունեցած բացման ու պատվո հյուպատոս Օսկար Թաթոսյանի պաշտոնավարման մեկնարկի ազդարարման հանդիսավոր արարողությանը հետևեց դիվանագիտական ընդունելություն Չիկագոյի պատմական Union League Club-ում: Ներկաներին ողջունեցին Չիկագոյի քաղաքապետ Ռահմ Էմանուելը, Հայաստանյայց Առաքելական եկեղեցու ԱՄՆ Արևելյան թեմի առաջնորդ Տեր Խաժակ արքեպիսկոպոս Պարսամյանը և ԱՄՆ-ում ՀՀ դեսպան Գրիգոր Հովհաննիսյանը: Հանդիսությանը ներկա էին 400-ից ավելի հյուրեր, այդ թվում` Իլինոյ նահանգի կոնգրեսականներ, Չիկագոյի հյուպատոսական կորպուսի անդամներ, ինչպես նաև տեղի ամերիկահայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչներ:
