YEREVAN. – Armenian parliament plans to hold hearings on Sumgait pogroms titled “Sumgait pogroms. The incitement of hatred towards Armenians as Azerbaijani state policy,” Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Armen Ashotyan said on Thursday.
According to him, experts, first-hand witnesses and representatives of embassies accredited in Armenia will be invited to the hearings.
“The purpose of these hearings is to inform the international community about these events and the state policy pursued by Azerbaijan,” he explained.
The hearings are scheduled on February 22 at 12:00. The decision to hold these hearings was unanimously adopted by members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
