YEREVAN. — There were no positive developments in 2017 in Armenian-Turkish relations because of the Turkish destructive position, Armenian Foreign Ministry said in an annual report summing up 2017.
The recognition of the Armenian Genocide was never a precondition for the development of Armenian-Turkish relations, said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan at the UN General Assembly session in September 2017, adding that the Turkish government is putting forward ridiculous preconditions for the ratification of the Zurich protocols.
According to the president, as there is no positive progress on Turkey’s ratification of these agreements, Armenia will annul agreements and enter the spring 2018 without the documents.
