A DISCUSSION WITH GARO PAYLAN MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY, REPUBLIC OF TURKEY
Deputy Garo Paylan will discuss recent developments in Turkey, challenges facing the country’s Armenian community, Turkish-Armenian relations, and the Kurdish issue.

Garo Paylan is a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party and is a deputy representing the 3rd district in Istanbul. Mr. Paylan is also a member of Turkey’s Armenian community and has long been an activist on Kurdish and Armenian issues and human rights.
Prior to his election to parliament, Garo Paylan was the director of various Armenian schools in Istanbul. He has long promoted bilingual education while addressing continued discrimination and the usurpation of minority rights. He has been actively engaged in the Hrant Dink murder case. He also promotes Turkish-Armenian reconciliation. He will speak in English.
