Armenian Independence Day Celebration in New York

A celebration of the 25th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia will be held at St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral in New York, on Wednesday, September 21. The evening of art and music will begin at 6 p.m. with an art exhibition titled “25 Years, 25 Artists,” curated by art connoisseur Vicki Shoghag Hovanessian, and featuring works by Saryan, Kochar, Khanjian, Carzou, Rumelian, Hamalbashian, and Nakian—among others.

Following a prayer service in the cathedral, a musical concert will ensue featuring cellist Laura Navasardian, clarinetist Narek Arutyunian, tenor Yeghishe Manucharian, and pianist Şahan Arzruni. The evening will conclude with a reception in Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium.
Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian will be the guest of honor on September 21. Diocesan Primate Archbishop Khajag Barsamian will preside. The service and concert will be broadcast live online via the Diocese’s Livestream channel.
The evening is free and open to the public. All parishioners in the New York metro region are encouraged to attend.
