Hyebridge Telehealth Gains Momentum in 2015!

Hyebridge Telehealth Armenian Telemedicine Program provides continuing education and medical consultation to the Armenian healthcare professionals through organizing trainings, seminars and teleconferences, as well as establishing ties and professional collaboration between healthcare professionals of different countries and sharing views and opinions through information and communication technologies, including videoconferencing (video communication). As a result, the quality of medical care to the population of Armenia and Karabakh has been significantly improved.

Here are the most remarkable milestones of the program in 2015:
Organized and successfully carried out 27 teleconferences on the up-to-date areas of medicine (cardiology, endocrinology, dietology, transmissible diseases) in the Yerevan’s Republican Scientific Medical Library.
Around 600 medical professionals and physicians from Yerevan, Regions of Armenia and Karabakh have participated in the seminars and teleconferences, exchanged ideas and opinions and established professional ties.
Eminent  lecturers both from Armenia (Dr. Ruben Fanarjyan, Dr. Ruben Hovhannisyan, Dr. Hmayak Sisakyan, Dr. Vardanush Petrosyan, Dr. Srbuhi Tarkhanyan) and abroad (Dr. Jirair Boghossian, Dr. John Belezikian, Dr. Samvel Badalian, Dr. Rafi Avitsian, Dr. Vigen Babilkian, Dr. Jenny Samaan, Dr. Vahe Tadevosian) participated in the program.
On April 7, 2015, first live kidney transplantation surgery was broadcast from New Jersey St. Barnabas Medical Center and gave opportunity to Armenian medical professionals to follow the surgery process and consult afterwards.
 A database of all project participants was created. Lectures, materials and up-to-date guides were e-mailed to the participants.

On January 10th, 2016, Dr. Gevorg Yaghjyan, Hyebridge Telehealth Project Manager, presented Armenia Fund USA’s Telementoring Armenia 2015 Program results to AAHPO during Christmas Brunch. Watch the video here.
In  2016, the program will continue educating and mentoring healthcare professionals in Armenia and Karabakh utilizing modern IT technologies. Some of the planned upcoming events include trainings in cardiology and family medicine, lectures on liver and kidney diseases, kidney transplantation surgeries televised from NJ, teleconferences and lectures from Munich Technical University Surgery Clinic and launching a devoted project website.
