Nine Centennials of Armenian Genocide & Massive Dispossession

By Appo Jabarian
appofltIn June, 2014, Harut Sassounian, Publisher of The California Courier, wrote: “Two important conferences took place in Yerevan last week in preparation for next year’s Armenian Genocide Centennial… In my talk … (at) the second meeting, held on May 27, I suggested that since the Armenian Genocide lasted from 1915 to 1923, the planned Centennial activities should extend from 2015 to 2023.

This would be a true nightmare for the Turkish government, having to confront not one, but nine years of Centennial events. Since the Centennial is a historic milestone, I urged Armenian communities around the world to organize unique events which have a mass appeal and the potential of generating nationwide or worldwide publicity for Armenians’ just demands from Turkey. The same old annual events should not be repeated on the occasion of the Centennial.”

Ever since I read Sassounian’s insightful remarks, I couldn’t help but start searching for a graphic design idea to help illustrate the magnitude of the upcoming chorus of Armenian Genocide and Massive Dispossession centennials awaiting the international community.
Once again Mother Nature and its beautiful colors are summoned for the purpose of remembrance, healing and recovery.
Because of the fact that the Crime of Crimes by Turkey took place during nine consecutive years, two more colors were added to the seven colors of rainbow to symbolize the nine centennials.
The two additional colors chosen are pink and black. While the seven rainbow colors have healing powers, the proposed pink may serve as a symbol of liveliness symbolizing the come-back of a nation while black can serve both as a symbol of mourning and protection/enforcement.
Armenians have already moved away from near-extinction, and now they should heal themselves; become strong again and empower other genocide victims to move on and thrive again.
I propose that, in commemoration of the Turkish-executed 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide & Massive Dispossession, Armenians and their friends adopt an official color for each of the upcoming centennials as follows: Purple in 2015; Dark blue in 2016; Light Blue in 2017; Green in 2018; Yellow in 2019; Orange in 2020; Red in 2021; Pink in 2022; Black in 2023.
The beauty about these colors is that they definitely ‘don’t run!’ However Turkey is giving certain corrupt Armenians a run for Ankara’s blood-stained money.
Ironically, with proceeds ‘generated’ from the real and personal properties illegally confiscated from victims of the Armenian Genocide & Massive Dispossession, Turkey is bribing a host of corrupt Armenian and non-Armenian media outlets, individuals and non-government organizations (NGO’s).
During a Dec. 15 press conference in Yerevan, Turkologist Ruben Melkonian of Yerevan State University asserted that a number of media outlets, individuals and NGO’s are engaged in the implementation of Turkish propaganda. The expert presented a list of the entities that are engaged in a huge network of Turkish propaganda. Revealing the names of the organizations operating in Armenia and Turkey, Prof. Melkonian stated: “In Turkey, Anadoghlu Kültür, Hrant Dink Foundation for Economic Policy Research Foundation, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly. In Armenia, the ‘Civilitas’ Foundation, Eurasia Partnership Foundation, Public Journalism Club, and Regional Research Center.”
In January 2014, these organizations received 2 million Euros from the European Union and began to support the Armenia-Turkey normalization process. This grant program will go on until April 24, 2015. .. Under this program, 40 journalists were taken to Turkey and sanitary centers and scenic places in order to advertise Turkey’s image in a beautiful and positive impression through articles as an attempted payback from participating journalists. … The nature of their ‘tasks’ is clear, he underlined.
He added: “As a lecturer, I should note that these targets as well as some students are recruited once a month in various enterprises receiving invitations from the Dink Foundation to attend free of charge — for example, language training in 2015. From February to April 20, several elements are invited to teach Armenian in Turkey for the Dink Foundation. It’s interesting to know who they are teaching Armenian.”
He continued: “Travel grants are allocated with the aim to facilitate Armenian-Turkish relations… and Armenian-Turkish dialogue.”
Then he challenged anyone to hold “public discussions on any platform” where he would be presenting ample evidence.
Despite Turkish state apparatus’ massive ‘investment’ in silencing or manipulating the truth on the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide and Massive Dispossession in Turkish-occupied Western Armenia and Cilicia, succeeding generations of Armenians keep marching forward with the torch of their quest for justice.
Further compounding denialist Turkish leadership’s woes, are outspoken and righteous members of the new Turkish generation that come forward with lucid minds and enlightened spirits lighting candles on the altar of truth and justice for Armenians. Now that’s the kind of Reconciliation that the one and a half million Armenian martyrs and their descendants and righteous Turks deserve. Any other form of fraudulent ‘reconciliation’ will continue to blow up in the face of denialist officialdom Turkey.

EE #1447 p.01 – ENG CoverReportedly, Turkey has been increasingly pumping millions of dollars to hijack Justice. Numerous reliable reports emanating from well-informed academic and media circles in Armenia and around the world attest to the fact that Ankara has been in a frenzy of recruiting dozens of non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) both in Armenia and what is now called Turkey, in order to obliterate historic facts. Apparently, Turkey has adopted a two-prong political assault: 1) To herd certain sheeple Armenians into a misleading ‘reconciliation;’ 2) To hire outright corrupt Armenian media outlets, individuals and NGO’s to promote its agenda of political fraud against unwitting Armenians.
The work is clearly cut out for the wider Armenian media; members of the academia; activists in Armenia and Diaspora; righteous Turkish scholars in Turkey and around the world to unmask the true identity of those dark forces that have become Ankara’s lackeys.
One of the righteous Turkish scholars is Professor Ugur Ümit Üngör, a lecturer at the Department of History at Utrecht University and the Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam, who courageously revealed the Turkish-documented inner workings of Turkish-masterminded and executed government policies of mass deportations, dispossession, and annihilation against Armenians then living under Ottoman yoke. Back in March 2013, I wrote an article on Prof. Ungor’s unmasking of Turkey’s Criminal Secrets, outlining the eight phases of the Armenian Genocide and massive dispossession. That historic event proved to be as timely as the Armenian Cause.
At the time of its initial release, the article (“Turkish Professor Unmasks Turkey’s Criminal Secrets, Outlines the Eight Phases of the Armenian Genocide,”) was reprinted by dozens of news outlets worldwide. It was translated into several languages, including French.
See article at http://www.armenianlife.com/2013/03/14/turkish-professor-unmasks-turkey%E2%80%99s-criminal-secrets-outlines-the-eight-phases-of-the-armenian-genocide/
It received wide acclaims from dozens of readers including Former U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, Honorable John Evans, who wrote on armenianlife.com: “Thanks to publisher Appo Jabarian for bringing this important lecture by Prof. Ungor to wider attention. It ought to be required viewing for all who care about this terrible chapter in human history. Maybe more to the point, it ought to be seen by those who refuse to recognize the historical veracity of the Armenian Genocide or just don’t care about such things at all. Bravo!”
One needs not be a prophet in order to ‘predict’ the future of succeeding genocidal regimes like Ottoman Turkey and what is now called Turkey. Like the Arabic saying goes, “Laqa yoym ya zalem!” (“O, Oppressor, your day shall come too!”)
Regardless of how much Azerbaijan and Turkey individually and collectively allocate human and financial resources to obstruct justice for Armenians, their chance is very slim as long as Armenians remain vigilant. While Azerbaijanis and Turks are respectively vying for maintaining a certain lifestyle, Armenian activists are fighting for Justice.
Similarly, during the Artsakh Liberation War (1989-1994) similar factors came into play in favor of Armenians. While Azerbaijani soldiers were aiming to keep Artsakh under Baku’s occupation as a political ‘lifestyle,’ Armenian soldiers were fighting for a free national homeland on ancestral lands in the historic Armenian territory of Artsakh.
With the way developments are unfolding, the day will come when more people will agree that Genocidal Turkey needs to be saved by itself from itself!
