A New Priest Ordained in Charlotte

On December 7, Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese, officiated at the ordination of the Rev. Fr. Samuel Rith-Najarian at the St. Sarkis Church of Charlotte, NC, in the presence of the community, family, and guests from around the country.

The Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan (http://www.armenianchurch-ed.net/news-and-media/news/thoughts-on-priestly-ordination/)served as the sponsoring priest and Dn. Yervant Kutchukian was the godfather at the ordination. Also participating in the ordination service were Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, Diocesan Legate and Ecumenical Director, and Rev. Fr. Mardiros Chevian, dean of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary.

It was a momentous occasion for the Armenian community in Charlotte, involving months of preparation. The former Deacon Benjamin Rith-Najarian arrived in the community in August 2013 to assume duties as the deacon-in-charge of the St. Sarkis Church.

Fr. Samuel Rith-Najarian will spend his 40-day period of seclusion at St. Nersess Seminary in New Rochelle, NY, after which he will return to take up pastoral duties in Charlotte, where Fr. Samuel resides with his wife Yn. Danielle DerAsadourian.
