Beneath every footstep is an ancient civilization

Different peoples throughout different times used to refer to Armenia by different names. The Sumerians in around 2,800 BCE called Armenia – Aratta, while the Akkadians that succeeded them in the second half of Third Millennium BCE called Armenia – Armani or Armanum.

The Hittites who rose in the Second Millennium BCE called Armenia – Hayasa, while the Assyrians who arose in the second half of Second Millennium BCE called Armenia – Uruatri or Urartu (Ararat).

With their disappearance from the historical arena, the different names that they used to refer to Armenia and the Armenian people disappeared with them. However, Armenia and the Armenian people, always found the strength for renewal throughout the long millennia of their epic history and continued to fight on for both preservation and progress.
Aratta is considered the first recorded Armenian state. It is mentioned in the oldest Sumerian texts that we have found about the Epic of Gilgamesh.
imagesThe Sumerians referred to Armenia as Ararat or Arrata, the birth of civilization. The Early Sumerian scribes acknowledged that the Arratans (Armenians) living on the high plateau of Armenia were their ancestors.
In their great epic poems of Gilgamesh and Arrata, they tell of the land of their ancestors, the Arratans in the Highlands of Armenia. The Sumerians also in the epic poems describe the Great Flood and the rebirth of life after the terrible deluge that fell from the Highlands of Armenia unto the lands of Mesopotamia and the Fertile Crescent.
The Sumerians had a very close connection with the ancestral Land of Ararat and considered it as their ancestral homeland (many historians and archaeologists are convinced that the Sumerians initially lived in Northern Mesopotamia and Armenian Highland). The Greeks believed that the people who first worked with bronze and iron came from the same area, they called them Khaldi.
316323_10151471443518043_214881439_nThus, civilization did not start in Mesopotamia or in any other part of the world, but in Armenia. The ancient Greek historians told us that the first to have worked with metals, iron, coper and bronze (Metallurgy) were the Armenians, often called Khaldi. The Anunnaki Ulema told us that the two oldest civilizations on Earth are Phoenicia and Armenia.
Although it is mentioned in the earliest inscriptions, about 4.800 years ago that does not mean Aratta did not exist before that. Quentin Atkinson and Russell Gray have proved that Armenian language already split from the Mother Tongue in the Indo-European Homeland in Armenian Highland some 8,500 years ago.
Portasar (armenian), Göbekli Tepe (turkish) -Western Armenia, modern day Turkey. When ancient Armenians built Portasar about 12,000 years ago there was already some kind of level of sophisticated organization which was surely required to accomplish such a massive undertaken for its time period.
Here I need to mention that Portasar is the old name of what is now called Gobekle Tepe which is a direct translation of Armenian “Portasar” which means Mountain Navel.  Ex. Big Hayq; Armenian Kingdom of Kilikia; Urfa(Urha), Last name was Edesia province
The temple was built over 9-11000 years ago, but turkish ethnic groups appeared in Armenian Highlands in 11th century.
A program on Russian channel “Culture” (Russian Discovery channel) is called “Armenian Highland. 12.000 years ago”.
The announcement reads:”All of Armenia is a huge museum under the open skies, and the hand-crafted artifacts that are within are tens, and even hundreds-of-thousands, of years old. This country and its civilization are traditionally regarded amongst the most ancient in the world. The latest discoveries that were made in Armenia have shown us that the origin of human civilization is much older and more developed and remarkable than what was previously believed.” And the program also told about Armenain religious centre Portasar.

Recent descoveries brought more evidence about ancient world and civilizations and it’s time to rewrite the world history. Unique discoveries revealed as a result of excavations at Shengavit (4000-3000 B.C.) confirm that Armenia is the motherland of metallurgy, jeweler’s art, wine-making and horse breeding. A group of archaeologists studying the ancient city concluded that 4000-3000 B.C. Armenia was a highly developed state with exclusive culture. The excavations are carried out by an Armenian-American archaeological expedition. Director of the Scientific and Research Institute of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the RA Ministry of Culture Simonyan said that for example, the glass beads discovered at the territory of Shengavit are of a higher quality than the Egypt samples.
315940_10151471460093043_1061131433_n“Meanwhile, the amount of revealed horse bones at the territory has exceeded all expectations of the researchers. With respect to this, German paleozoologist Hans Peter Wertman stated that he has not observed such a quantity of horses in the entire Ancient East. A great number of stone tools have been found in workrooms. While the discovered evidences of copper production prove that a systematized iron production was established in Armenia,” said Simonyan, adding that many surprises are still awaiting us.
481012_10151471442008043_1159065891_nFor his part, Mitchell S. Rothman, a Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology and founder of the Anthropology Department at Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, said that all the discoveries prove that around 6,000 years ago the culture of Shengavit has spread over the ancient world. “All that was known in Mesopotamia came from Armenia. Armenia is the absent fragment in the entire mosaics of the ancient world’s civilizations construction. Shengavit has supplemented the lacking chains, that we had been facing while studying the ancient culture of Mesopotamia,” concluded Rothman.

Fragment of the Assyrian bas-relief (bronze, Shalmaneser III period) depicting the theft of horses from Ararat (Urartu) after the successful military campaign Shalmaneser III in 858 BC. Armenia was once again depicted for its connection to excellent bred and trained horses. The Persians, Assyrians, Romans, and many other nations surrounding Armenia from antiquity labelled Armenia as the land of the horse. With archaeological discoveries outlined in previous posts, Armenia has shown to be one of the oldest locations for horse mastery and breeding.

In the trilingual Behistun inscription, carved in 521/0 BC by the order of Darius the Great of Persia, the country referred to as Urartu in Assyrian is called Arminiya in Old Persian and Harminuia in Elamite.

Many peoples all over the world who  found similarities between Armenians and themselves tried and are still trying, by illustraiting those similarities, to put themselves to the ancient stage of the civilization but each time they failed because those similarities are just  small parts of the completeness one can find only in Armenian people, in Armenian ethnos and in Armenian heritage, the heritage which is the basis for almost all european and some non-european peoples.
601010_10151471442118043_1225787593_n Obviously, to make the analysis complete we need to take into consederation the fact that nowdays new terms and borders give  misunderstandings in what is Armenian ethnos and heritage ! Once it was Armenian Highlands and the topic should be discussed on the real point.

“The Armenians are a nation and an ethnic group originating from the Caucasus and eastern Anatolia (PS is mine: here should be mentioned that the term Anatolia is new, before it was Western Armenia), where a large concentration of this community has remained, especially in Armenia.”–

Result of the over 300 individuals that have already been tested revealed that the Armenian branches of DNA are at the root of many branches in Europe. Armenians belong to 13 distinct genetic groups that go back tens of thousands of years, while at the same time there is no trace of invaders in their DNA in the last 4000 years, making them “homogeneous in their diversity. Many scholars pointed out the direct connection between Armenian and Hittite on one hand and Tocharian on the other hand. According to them the Tocharians called themselves “Urums” or “Arams” (again the Ur-Ar-Or-Er-Ir alternatives that we have like Urmia or Arme or Haria or Armin/Ormin/Irmin/Ermin etc. – (just a slight dialectic pronounciation of the vowel) and “Tocharian” was simply what the Greeks called these eastern Indo-European populations.
There is strict connection between Armenian and Vinca cultures, Armenian and Egypt (this topic I’ll discuss in my next article with more details ), Armenian and Celtic and Armenian and Hindu, Armenian and Pershian (this topic would also be discussed in details) and so on
