St. James Armenian Apostolic Church was very honored last Sunday, October 27, when the Solemn Celebration of the Divine Liturgy was presided by His Beatitude Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem.  This was the First Patriarchal Visit of His Beautitude to the Western Diocese.  His Beatitude was accompanied by The Very Rev. Fr. Norayr Kazazian, member of the Brotherhood of St. James, as the Celebrant.
During the service Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Haroutioun Tachejian introduced the Patriarch to the congregation.  His sermon was well received by the approximately one hundred Armenian faithful in attendance.
Following the church services, a reception was held in Dulgarian Hall.  Special thanks were extended to the members of the Ladies Society for the lavish array of Armenian pastries and baked goods.  At the reception, Kissing of the Hand (Ajahampouyr) was conducted by His Beatitude for all the Sunday School Children.  His Beatitude spoke about the church’s history in Jerusalem and the present conditions.  He graciously participated in a very informative Question and Answer session.
This was truly a historic occasion for St. James Armenian Church and our parish.
