TWO INTERNS JOIN DIOCESAN TEAM
The Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern) is pleased to announce that two interns—Anthony Aram Antreasyan and Alexander Calikyan—have joined the Diocesan team for a hands-on summer program. The interns will assist with projects in the Diocese’s accounting department and at the Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center.

“It’s wonderful to have young people who are interested in learning about our church join our Diocesan family for the summer months,” said Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Diocesan Primate. “The internship program is a good opportunity for participants to develop professional skills while gaining a deeper understanding of their faith and a familiarity with the operations of the Diocesan Center.”
Anthony Aram Antreasyan, of Holy Martyrs Church of Bayside, N.Y., will work in the accounting department. An economics major at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y., where he just completed his junior year of study, Anthony has also been active in his local ACYOA chapter, played on the Holy Martyrs basketball team, and attended AGBU Camp Nubar for many years. In addition, he graduated from the Holy Martyrs Armenian Saturday School and attended the Diocese’s Khrimian Lyceum.
“It is a great honor to be able to join the Diocese to expand my involvement in the Armenian Church and community while gaining real-world experience in the field of finance,” he said. “Through AGBU’s summer internship program and my time at the Diocese, I hope to obtain applicable knowledge in my field, and to make new connections and friendships.”
Anthony is living in student housing at New York University, along with some 40 summer interns participating in the AGBU internship program. He will join AGBU interns for several educational, cultural, and social activities throughout the summer.
Alexander Calikyan, also of Holy Martyrs Church, will work in the Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center, under the supervision of its director, the Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan. This spring he completed his sophomore year at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, where he is studying philosophy.
Earlier this month Alex took part in the Diocese’s Young Adult Pilgrimage to the Holy Land. His involvement in the Armenian community also includes study at the Diocese’s Khrimian Lyceum and participation in the Holy Martyrs Hye Bar Dance Group and Shnorhali Choir. He regularly serves on the altar at Holy Martyrs Church.
“This summer I hope to gain experience working with older Armenian texts, particularly those focusing on Armenian Church history,” he said. “I am looking forward to what promises to be a great learning experience.”
