Pasadena Armenian Genocide Memorial Committee Design Review and Selection Process Has Begun

Pasadena, CA, December 3, 2012: On Saturday, December 1, 2012, The Pasadena Armenian Genocide Memorial Committee (PASAGMC) convened an independent review panel of 3 distinguished professional judges to review and rank all 17 design proposals that the were received for the Armenian Genocide Memorial project proposed to be located in Memorial Park in the City of Pasadena.

One of the judges was Stefanos Polyzoides a principal of Moule & Polyzoides, Architects and Urbanists. Mr. Polyzoides’ distinguished career covers the areas of architectural and urban design education, design and theory. He is an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Southern California (USC) and has been a Visiting Professor at several schools including Princeton University, where he was on the Advisory Board of the School of Architecture from 1983-1990. His recent design experience includes major urban design projects, such as the Pasadena Civic Center/Midtown Urban Design Program; the San Gabriel Valley Urban Design Plan for seven cities in the San Gabriel Valley; the 1,000-acre Playa Vista New Town; the Los Angeles Downtown Strategic Plan; the Beverly Hills Downtown Enhancement Plan; and the Glendale Town Center for Glendale, California. The other judges were Ruben Amirian a prominent architect/artist who has served on the design review board and historic commission in Glendale and Neshan Peroomian a contractor and prominent Armenian-American community leader.
The review panel’s written recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Directors of the Pasadena Armenian Genocide Memorial Committee which will make the final selection.
