Happy New Year
by Divan of the Diocese
The human being is a spiritual presence. We all have a divine spark within us. We all have the dire need to change led by new hopes and aspirations.
St. Nersess the Graceful (Soorp Nersess Shnorhali) leads us all through the prayers sprout from his heart:
“When you come in glory,
Remember me, O Christ,
Renewer of the old,
Renew me also,
Adorn me again.”
We make these words the prayer of our heart addressed to God. Do we have the strength to change? Certainly, we do. Therefore, we need to make the practical steps. When we lead our lives with prayer and faith, we then are able to bring forth the light and enlighten the world.
Each year is a gift from God, a special time to set forth the notion of self-accountability. In other words, when we are able to review the past and analyze it with the power of prayer, we then embark on a New Life.
On the eve of the New Year, let us all cultivate within us a life in accordance to the divine law, with the love of God and the wisdom of Christ radiating from the Gospels.
On the eve of the New Year, let us uplift our hearts to God and exchange with our brothers and sisters good wishes and prayers. With this behavior we then create the New Year and instill within us the New Life.
May the blessings of God lead our lives to new spiritual heights. This journey empowers us to search and create the New Life, the New Year within the depth of our spirituality.
Prayerfully,
Archbishop Hovnan Derderian
