On Sunday, May 29, the Primate celebrated the Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon at St. Paul Armenian Church in Fresno, California.

Assisting the Primate at the holy altar were Rev. Fr. Haroutioun Tachejian and Rev. Fr. Avedis Abovian. The Primate reflected on the dedicated service of Diane Boyajian and Zaroohi Der Mugrdechian in the life of St. Paul Parish. In recognition of their years of valuable service rendered to St. Paul and the Western Diocese alike, the Primate bestowed upon the two parishioners the “Archbishop’s Award.”

The Primate remarked on the celebration of Memorial Day, remembered the victims of the recent tornado in Joplin, Missouri, referred to the legacy of the Battle of Sardarabad (1918), and noted the invaluable contributions of the late Archbishop Diran Nersoyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church (1943-1953) and founder of the ACYOA, Armenian Church Youth Organization of America.

“We ought to exercise our wisdom and apply all the messages of our Lord in our everyday life. Christ, our Lord, came into this world to lead us all to salvation. The Incarnation of the Son of God is the ultimate reflection of God’s love for humanity. Therefore, those who do not wish to exercise God-granted wisdom, choose to remain blind at heart. They choose not to respond to God’s call,” said the Primate in his message.
