MONUMENT TO VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE AND HOLOCAUST TO BE UNVEILED DIN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS: A monument commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide and the victims of the Nazi Genocide of the Jews will be unveiled in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan later this month.

Rimma Varzhapetian, head of the small Jewish community of Armenia, said the monument will be unveiled in a special ceremony on October 27 in a downtown Yerevan where the streets of Moskovian and Teryan cross.

Mrs. Varzhapetian thanked prime minister Andranik Margarian for his support to erecting the monument.

The Jewish community of Armenia comprises 250 people. Mrs. Varzhapetian said the community plans a seminar for teachers of history of Armenian schools on the Holocaust so that they be able to tell about it to their students.

The Jewish community publishes a newspaper which is called The Shield of David and runs a Sunday school and a center of Jewish art.
