Darchinyan (left) hit Maldonado with a series of lefts
Australia’s Vic Darchinyan retained his IBF flyweight title on Saturday with an eighth-round stoppage of Mexico’s Luis Maldonado in Las Vegas.
Armenian-born Darchinyan staggered Maldonaldo with a powerful left midway through the eighth to improve to 26-0.
“I feel very good, very comfortable, very happy,” said Darchinyan.
The fight topped the bill following the cancellation on Friday of the WBC lightweight title fight between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo.
