Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) rapporteur Edward O’Hara will visit Azerbaijan on May 28 aimed at conducting monitoring of cultural monuments, Council of Europe Information Office has told APA.
British parliamentarian will be accompanied by secretariat of the mission. They will study the situation of cultural monuments in Azerbaijan, as well as in the territories under occupation by Armenians. PACE representatives will visit Armenia on May 31.
It should be noted that, Azerbaijan has applied to Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis to send mission for monitoring of cultural and historical monuments in the territories of Azerbaijan under occupation. In response to that, Armenians have raised an issue before international organizations claiming that Armenian monuments are destroyed in Nakhchivan. Azerbaijani position is that, fact-finding mission should conduct monitoring in Armenia and Azerbaijan./APA/
