Armenian Chess-Players In Lead In Three Out Of Four Tournaments

MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. Representatives of Armenia have
good results in all of 4 tournaments of “Aeroflot Open” chess festival
being held in Moscow. In the general “A1” tournament Vladimir Hakobian
gained 4 out of 5 possible points and shares the 1-5th places. Gabriel
Sargsian, Karen Asrian and Tigran L.Petrosian are also in the lead:
they share the 6-17th palces with 3 points each. Arsen Yeghiazarian
has the best results in the “A2” tournament. He is in the 12-32nd
places with 3.5 points. “B” and “C” tournament participants have held
6 games each. David Petrosian, a young chess-player from Yerevan,
is the only one in the lead in the “B” tournament: he has 5.5 points.

Representative of Armenia Artur Gharagyozian also has 5.5 points in the
“C” tournament. He shares the 1-4th places. All the tournaments of the
“Aerofolot Open” are held by the Swiss contest rules, by 9 tours. The
prize-winners will become known on September 15.
