WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION EXPERTS IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, JANUARY 30. ARMINFO. World Health Organization experts in bird flu arrived on a working visit to Armenia on January 29. WHO Bureau Representative in Armenia Stepan Astvatsatryan told ARMINFO.

He said the experts were invited by the Armenian Health Ministry to render technical assistance to the country. The experts will help the Armenian Government improve the system of sanitary and epidemic control, diagnostics and treatment of virus diseases. S. Astvatsatryan said the mobile group of WHO experts will stay in Armenia for a week to prepare recommendations on H5N1 virus preventive measures. Then, the group will left for Georgia. Similar groups are to visit the other states bordering with Turkey. Despite the high threat of the virus spreading in these states, none of them has officially registered H5N1 yet, S. Astvatsatryan said.
