24 ARMENIAN FAMILIES REPATRIATE FROM SWITZERLAND

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS: Nine Armenian families-24 people- have returned from Switzerland since 2004 after Armenia and this country signed a readmission agreement. Seven of these families have returned this year and according to Armenian officials, another 50 families are in queue.

Haykush Yenokian, who coordinates a program for assisting these Armenians said a special re-integration program was developed for them. Under the program they are provided with various assistance, jobs, education for children and those who want to start a business are given a $4,000 loan.

Armenia signed also readmission agreements with Denmark and Lithuania. In a related development the French-Armenian Development Program opened an office in Paris on November 15 to help 50 Armenian families living in France without official permission repatriate. Armen Ayvazian, who runs the program, said 5-6 Armenians have already asked the office to help them go back.
