YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The Armenian President Robert Kocharian sent on November 29 a congratulatory message on the occasion of the decision on making amendments to the RA Constitution through the national referendum. The message, which was submitted to NT by the RA President’s press service, reads: “Dear compatriots, I congtaulate all of us on the occasion of saying an unequivocal and decisive “Yes” during the referendum on making amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. This is a great victory with respect to strengthening democracy and forming civil society in Armenia. I express my gratitide to those citizens who were indifferent to the future of the country and took an active part in the referendum. I think there will be not any winners and losers in this referendum. The Constitution belongs to all of us, and it is time to work together by developing and adopting legal acts to realize the constitutional provisions. I congratulate the Armenian people once again on having an amended Constitution. “Yes” said by the people bore evidence of the existence of a social will to deepen reforms in the country. The amended Constitution paves the way for turning Armenia into a prospering country of the 21st century.”
