Arminfo 10 Aug 05 YEREVAN Six political parties will be dissolved in Armenia, the head of the department for the registration of public unions, non-commercial legal entities and media outlets of the Justice Ministry's State Register Agency, Eduard Markaryan, has told Arminfo. These are the Conservative Democratic Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Armenian Socialist Congress Party, the National Democratic Party, the Work, Law and Democracy Party and the National Unity Party. The aforementioned parties have failed to provide information on the number of their members and regional branches within the period fixed by the law (from 8 February to 8 August), he said. In line with amendments to the law "On political parties", a party should have more than 2,000 members and over 400 regional branches. A newly-established party should have more than 200 members and regional branches in at least a third of the country's regions, including Yerevan. Markaryan also said that apart from the mentioned six parties, 62 parties have been registered with the Justice Ministry. The ministry is now considering the Armenian Motherland Party's application for registration.
