"Parajanov: The Last Spring" Screens in Armenia Armenian News Network / Groong June 19, 2005 Entertainment Wire YEREVAN, ARMENIA Armenia's the "Moskva Theater" film venue organized an exclusive screening of "Parajanov: The Last Spring". Mikhail Vardanov's documentary film was introduced by cinematographer Albert Yavuryan, who reminded that "Parajanov: The Last Spring" remains the only Armenian film to win the prestigious Russian Academy Award. Following the standing ovations, the world's first Chechnya-born filmmaker, Mikhail Vardanov, an Armenian, took the stage to thank the audience which included the legendary pianist Svetlana Navasardian, distinguished poet Henrik Edoyan, and film professor Suren Hasmikian. Vardanov also thanked the members of his crew - the veteran soundman Karen Kurdian, noted photographer Yuri Mechitov, narrator Edgar Bagdasarian, veteran cameraman Haik Kirakossian, revered 2nd unit director Lavrenty Davtyan, editor Svetlana Manucharian and others. "Parajanov: The Last Spring" left Armenia in 1990s and was screened worldwide, garnering superb reviews by both critics and celebrities, as well as top awards at San Francisco Int'l Film Festival and the Beverly Hills Film Festival.
