VARTAN NAMED WHO AMBASSADOR French singer SYLVIE VARTAN has been named a WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION (WHO) goodwill ambassador, to promote child care throughout Europe. The IF I SING star, 61, who has spent years helping ailing children and orphans in her ancestral home of Bulgaria, will focus her ambassadorial work in central and eastern Europe. At a press conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, yesterday (11APR05), MARC DANZON, WHO regional director for Europe, said, "I am happy to name officially Sylvie Vartan ambassador of the WHO for child care in Europe. "I am very proud to be part of this world organisation.
