Istanbul Armenian circles in New York say that His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II of Etchmiadzin is in the United States for a month. The press office of the Catholicosate or the mass media organs in Armenia and the Diaspora have remained silent about this unofficial trip of Karekin II. It is said that while in the United States, the Catholicos has gone through a series of medical check-ups, vacationed for a few weeks, and in his capacity as honorary patron of the AGBU he has had consultations with the AGBU Central Board chairperson Mrs. Louise Simone and Armenian Democratic Liberal Party leaders. His Holiness is expected to return to Armenia on March 4.
