500 ARMENIAN AND FOREIGN STUDENTS OF ARMENIA OBTAIN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IDENTITY CARDS (ISIC) YEARLY

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24. ARMINFO. Every year 500 Armenian and foreign students of Armenia purchase International Student Identity Cards (ISIC).

Talking to ARMINFO, Head of the Association of Cultural and Educational, Labor International Programs Ara Galstyan says that ISICs allow free visits to museums, cinemas and exhibitions, discounts hotels, for international telephone calls, at clubs, restaurants and at shops. He says that the cards were put into circulation in Armenia in 1997. It should be noted that 1,700 youth organizations in 95 countries use the cards issued and distributed by the International Student Tourist Confederation. Galstyan says that students receive discounts at 45 commercial, hotel, transport and museum organizations. Discounts in every country are special. ISICs are issued for 18 months, and then students can prolong the cards’ validity for another year. A student pays only for membership at the system ISIC – 2.5 thousand drams (some 4 EUR), and prolongation of the card requires no additional payment, Galstyan says. The organization itself pays 3 EUR for each card.
