YEREVAN (YERKIR) – The Hamazkayin Armenian Culture and Educational Society jointly with the Armenian Artists Union have announced a contest for a bronze statue of the great Armenian composer Komitas, Armenpress reported.
The contenders are supposed to submit an actual-size (51cm by 33cm by 36cm) gypsum model to the Union by March 20, 2005.
The winner will receive a $5,000 prize and his/her work will be placed in a public park in Quebec, Canada. The local Armenian community has greatly contributed to the project by getting a permission from the city authorities for the statue.
The runner-ups will also be awarded prizes ranging between $250 and $2,000.
