ARMENIAN OMBUDSMAN WISHES TO HELP THE ARMENIAN PILOTS

Armenian Ombudsman Larissa Alaverdyan has a wish to leave for Equatorial Guinea and meet the 6 Armenian pilots there, who were sentenced to imprisonment on accusation of stirring up revolution in Equatorial Guinea.

Mrs. Alaverdyan has appealed to “International Amnesty” organization with request of supporting her visit. According to Alaverdyan, the members of the organizations have announced through joint efforts it is necessary to reach the point that the verdict for Armenian pilots is changed to correspond with the international criteria.

Armenian Ombudsman has addressed a letter on the problem of Armenian pilots to Pope. Taking into account the fact that 80% of population in Equatorial Guinea is catholic and Equatorial Guinea’s President will meet Pope one of these days, Larissa Alaverdyan has asked Pope to assist in solving the problem of Armenian pilots imprisoned in Equatorial Guinea.
