ARMENIAN SIDE CONTINUES TO NEGOTIATE WITH GEORGIAN AUTHORITIES ON PERMISSION OF PASSAGE OF THE ARMENIAN VEHICLES

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20. ARMINFO. Tens of Armenian citizens are waiting for the Georgian authorities to allow their passage to their native county through Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone. Arthur Sargsyan, consul of Armenia to Georgia informed ARMINFO correspondent.

“The Armenian side continues to negotiate with the Georgians and hopes that the problem will be settled and people will get to their native country”, stressed the consul. According to Sargsyan, he has been twice to the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone with primary necessity goods. “The situation is very complicated. The people, among them elders and children, have been in insanitary conditions for already several weeks, many have got ill”, stated A. Sargsyan.

According to the Directorate General of Police in the region of Shid Kartly a total of two passenger buses and several trucks have been held near the village Ergnety (Tskhinvalski region). The vehicles were on their way from Russia to Armenia. They will be allowed passage after documentation procedure according to the Georgian legislation. The transport means entered Georgian territory through Rokski tunnel, which has been closed since 2004 by the decision of Georgian authorities till the opening of a check point there.
