WELL-KNOWN ARMENIAN PUBLICIST ZORY BALAYAN HAVE NOT BEEN ARRESTED IN TURKEY

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30. ARMINFO. On September 29, the well-known Armenian writer and publicist Zory Balayan, who is on the “Cilicia” boat, refuted the information spread by Azerbaijani and Turkish Mass Media on his detention in Turkey.

In his interview to the Second TV channel of Armenia, Balayan said that he crossed only 20 meters of the boundary and was detained by a Turkish frontier guard and had a 40-minute silent dialogue in his room. “In the course of those 40 minutes, the frontier guard silently looked at the monitor of his computer not at me, and I stayed in silence as well.” As regards the statement by Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament on the necessity of sending a written application of the Secretary General of Interpol asking for announcement of Z.Balayan internationally wanted, the publicist said: “This statement and the idea on my announcement as wanted by police is a full absurd of Azerbaijani special services.” Balayan said that when entering territorial waters of Turkey, he had all the necessary documents with himself. In his turn, Secretary General of Interpol apologized to Balayan for misunderstanding.

It should be noted that at present the boat “Cilicia” is on the Mediterranean sea.
