YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 18. ARMINFO. The main goal of the visit of Chairman of the European Commission to the South Caucasus is the discussion of a new policy of the European Union – a policy of friendship, which will be “a new chapter” in history, Chairman of the European Commission Romano Prody told reporters at the “Zvartnots” airport.
As regards the importance of the South Caucasus for the European community, he pointed out that the decision on involving the region in the program “A Wider Europe: the New Neighborhood Policy” demonstrated the importance of the region. According to Prody, the EU’s policy is aimed at cooperation and joining a 500mln.-people market, which will contribute to the development of the South Caucasian region.
