A 13-year old Ararat Valley boy has become Armenia’s first known child to die from the bite of a viper.

Gurgen Harutyunyan was bitten by a lebetina viper, commonly known as the “blunt-nosed” viper, while taking food to his father working in a field near their home in the village of Narek.

The teenager died on August 14, six days after the bite.
