YEREVAN, MAY 20. ARMINFO. Today, the US Department of State is to inform the family of 33-year-old Joshua Hagland, who was killed in Yerevan, of the day of transporting his body to the Homeland, the victim’s mother told “The Minnesota Star Tribute.”
The newspaper reports that the young man left Minnisota to teach in China, India and former Soviet countries. During the last year, he has worked in Yerevan, where he has taught English in a number of educational establishments under the exchange program of the US Department of State. Hagland intended to leave Armenia in few days.
We would remind you that on monday evening a passer-by found Hagland’s body near the building where he rented a flat. She told the police that the young man was seriously injured but alive. He tried to explain something to her in English, but she did not understand. By the time paramedics arrived the young man had died. Law-enforcement stated that the death was caused by beating and knife-wounds. Nobody has so far been detained.
The witness also told that an open bottle and three glasses were founded in the flat. Something serious must have happened, but the US Embassy does not report any information, the young man’s friend Sayompol Samod said.
