YEREVAN, APRIL 27. ARMINFO. Azeri-Armenian clashes took place in Tehran last Saturday, says the head of the baku bureau of Movement for National Awakening of Southern Azerbaijan Husein Turkelli.
Turkelli blames the Armenians who reportedly tried to burn a Turkish flag while commemorating the Armenian Genocide. The movement activists could not allow such blasphemy. However, it turned out that the Armenians had knifes on them. As a result 10 Azeri were wounded.
Turkelli says that the Iranian police detained no single Armenian but arrested almost 40 Azeris. Famous poet Atilla Kshizade received 6 knife wounds from the Armenians and baton hits from the police. He underwent surgery in a hospital but his condition remains serious. All the wounded are in hospitals guarded by the police.
