YEREVAN, APRIL 17. ARMINFO. Yesterday evening two members of the Political Council of the Republic opposition party, ex-minister of defense Gegham Haroutiunyan and Artur Haroutiunyan, who were arrested at April 12-13 night, were released from preliminary detention cell “Center.”
Thus, seven people (Suren Surenyants, Aramazd Zakaryan, Artak Gabrielyan, Zhora Sepyan, Gevorg Mesropyan, Artur Mangasarov and Vagharshak Haroutiunyan) remain arrested on a criminal case in a united procedure. They are charged with the Articles 300, 301, 217 and 235 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
Referring to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, Golos Armenii newspaper has reported today, that The Court of First Instance of Center and Nork-Marash communities has chosen arrest as a measure of restraint in respect to the ex-minister of defense, representative of the opposition bloc Justice, the member of the Political Council of the Republic party Vagharhsak Haroutiunyan. The latter is charged with three articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia: No.300 (misappropriation of state power), No. 301 (public calls for violent change of constitutional order in Armenia) and No.318 (insulting of state offical).
As regards Armenian MP Smbat Ayvazyan, called by the two residents of Moscow G.Mesropyan and A.Mangasarov, arrested for preparation of a terrorist act in the course of an opposition rally in Yerevan as their client, he told journalists recently that he is ready to answer any questions of the Prosecutor’s Office. Nevertheless, he was out when called for an interrogation and even when his flat was searched. However, he is not wanted by the law-enforcement bodies yet.
