YEREVAN, APRIL 12 ARMINFO. The opposition continues its rally in Yerevan. The rally participants, who stopped at the approaches to the presidential residence, promised to stand all night long.
The Parliament member Shavarsh Kocharian made a speech. He stated that the parliamentarians will be there and urged the people to stand to victory. “The more people will be present the sooner a victory will be gained,” Sh. Kocharian said. As regards the failed negotiations with Parliament Speaker Artur Baghdasaryan, he stated that it is the Speaker, but not people, that needs negotiations. “Artur Baghdasaryan is not authorized to deal with the issue of the President’s resignation, he can only decide between jointing the people or not,’ Sh. Kocharian said. Addressing the people, he added: “Your presence will cause the President to reside.” Another group has went down Baghramyan Avenue.
Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargssian made a speech as well. According to him, the authorities are trying to “get on the opposition’s nerves.” “But we will show that we have strong nerves. We will stay until they break down and leave,” he said. The barbed wire will not help the authorities, as they cannot exist behind barbed wire, and all those for whom the wire is the only protection from the people are aware of this. According to Sargssian, the time this issue can be settled is unknown – it may occur at any moment. However, the rally participants are determined to stand to the end. According to information available, supporters of the opposition are moving toward Yerevan.
