OTTAWA, MARCH 17, ARMENPRESS: The Diocese of the Armenian Church of Canada expressed its deep sorrow and disillusionment that the Catholicos of the Cilician See, His Holiness Aram I, has granted the title of Prelate (Arachnort) to Archbishop Khajag Hagopian, thus regretfully widening the schism within the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church in Canada. “This step will further deepen the compelled fragmentation of the Armenian Community in Canada which began in 2001 with the establishment of the “Armenian Prelacy of Canada” affiliated with the Cilician See,” a statement by the Diocese says.
