GOLDEN APRICOT
International Film Festival
June 30 – July 4, Yerevan 2004
Objectives
The aim of the film festival is to encourage the film directors and producers of Armenia and world cinematographers of Armenian origin, to attract new creative forces in the sphere of cinema and video art and present their films at international film festivals under a joint program. Films created during the years of 2002–2004 by filmmakers of Armenian origin both in Armenia and abroad, as well as student films are eligible for the festival.
Another goal of the festival is to present a selective program of new outstanding films from different countries to the Armenian audience.
We hope this project will develop an international interest in the Armenia and Armenian cinema, fostering cooperation between cinematographers of Armenia and Diaspora.
A Founding Meeting will be held within the scope of the film festival where details and conditions of “Golden Apricot” (“Voske tziran”) annual International Film Festival to be held in Yerevan starting the year 2005 will be discussed.
Competition program
1. Feature films.
2. Short feature films.
3. Documentary film.
4. Animation films.
5. Students films.
Non-Competition Program
1. Retrospective program of one of Armenian film masters.
2. Retrospective film program of one of the world famous film masters.
3. Master classes.
Acceptance of Applications and Selection Procedure
Any feature films, documentaries and animation on 35 mm, 16 mm prints, video, DVD and others created in the period 2002-2004 can be submitted to the Selection Committee.
The applications are filled in and accepted by the Benevolent Fund of Culture Development (Yerevan, 5 Byron str.) before 1 April 2004. The Selection Committee will make the selections of films for participation at the festival before 30 April.
Awards
1. The best feature film (Golden Apricot).
2. The best documentary film (Golden Apricot).
3. The best Animation film (Golden Apricot).
4. The best debut or student’s film (Frunze Dovlatyan award).
