YEREVAN, January 15 (Itar-Tass) – The membership in the Organisation of the Collective Security Treaty (OCST) is an important component of the Armenian security system, it is said in a report on the activity of the republic’s foreign ministry circulated here on Wednesday.
Last year, the OCST turned into an international regional organisation, and Armenia took an active part in the process of its formation, the document says.
Simultaneously Armenia is building up relations with the North Atlantic Alliance. The country has taken steps that raised the Armenia-NATO cooperation to a new level, it is said in the report.
The Armenian foreign ministry points out, “A political dialogue with NATO and the republic’s participation in the Euroatlantic partnership are getting more coordinated and targeted.”
Armenia will make its contribution to the peacekeeping operations of the Alliance by way of setting up of its own forces compatible with the NATO partnership program, Yerevan officials say with confidence.
