Ukraine: New Armenian Church Opened in Poltava Region

12.19.03 (RISU.org.ua) – Archbishop Gregory Buniatian, head of
the Ukrainian eparchy of the Armenian Apostolic Church, recently
consecrated the Church of St. Sarkis, built in honor of the Mother
of Norvard, in the village of Verkholy in central Ukraine’s Poltava
region. This news was reported by the information agency “UKROP”
on 17 December 2003.

In addition to parishioners, guests from Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk,
Luhansk and Kyiv were also present at the ceremony. Archbishop
Buniatian emphasized that the opening of such a spiritual center was
a great necessity for the Armenian community in the Poltava region,
which has 13 thousand people.
