BAKU, DECEMBER 24. ARMINFO-TURAN. Azerbaijan Milli Mejlis has adopted today the statement expressing a strong protest at recognition of Armenian genocide in 1915 by Swiss parliament. Milli Mejlis statement reads that “myth” about Armenian genocide is inconsistent and historical facts have been distorted. During two centuries Armenian nationalists have been pursuing aggressive policy against Azerbaijanis and Turks. As a result of that all Azerbaijani population has been banished from Armenia and Armenia occupied 20 percent Azerbaijani territories, including Nagorno Karabakh and adjoining to it regions. About 20,000 Azeris died and over 50,000 ones were injured as a result of this aggression. During the past 15 years Armenia has committed 32 acts of terrorism in Azerbaijan, which led to death of about 2,000 people and several thousands of injured. Milli Mejlis added that Swiss parliament’s decision is “interference into internal affairs of another state.” This decision neither contributes to settlement of conflict on the Caucasus, nor accelerates its achievement. Milli Mejlis “expresses a strong protest at this unjust decision.”
