YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21. ARMINFO. The First Aram Khachaturyan contest of pianists is to be held in Yerevan, on November 23-30.
At his press conference, Chairman of the organizing committee, Rector of Yerevan State Conservatoire Sergey Sarajian reported that 27 pianists from Greece, Georgia, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Belgium, and Armenia are to take part in the contest. The contest jury is formed of world-famous musicians: Professor of Moscow Conservatoire Vladimir Krainev (jury chairman), Professor of the London Royal Academy of Music Hammish Miln, Professor of Tokyo Conservatoire Yako Yamaoka, as well as Professors of Yerevan Conservatoire. It is a three-round contest. The contest program includes compositions of Vienna classics, composers of last century, etc.. The contest participants must perform Khachaturyan’ s “Toccata”, and, during the third round, his concerto for the piano. The winner of the first prize will receive 15,000 USD, the winner of the second prize 10,000 USD and the winner of the third prize 5,000 USD. Besides, the participants in the third round will receive bonuses, 2,000 USD, each. The contest will be held with the assistance of the RA Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Sport, which received 46mln. AMD for the organization, as well as of the “Aram Khachaturyan-100” Fund and patrons of arts. The ceremonial opening of the contest and lot-casting are scheduled for November 23.
