arminfo: WELL-KNOWN JOURNALIST ROBERT MAVISAKALIAN DIES

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 30. ARMINFO. The well-known journalist Robert Mavisakalian has died in Yerevan today, after a long and serious disease.

Robert Mavisakalian was born in Yerevan, on May 14, 1940. He graduated from the Department of Philology, Yerevan State University. In 1971-1998, he was Editor-in-Chief of popular-science programs at Armenia’s Public Television, Director of the “Lraber” news service, Director of the “Armenia” TV company, Vice-Chairman of the State TV and Radio and Director of the “Nork” TV company. Also, in 1990-91 he was preparing reports from Armenia for the CNN TV company. From 1998, Robert Mavisakalian was political analyst for the “Armenia” TV company. In 1979 he became a member of the Union of Journalists of Armenia, and in 2002 a member of the Board of the National Press Club. In 1987, Robert Mavisakalian became a winner of the State Prize of the Armenian SSR for the series of films entitled “The history of the Armenian people.” Robert Mavisakalian was actively engaged in politics and joined the Ramkavar-Azatakan Party of Armenia in 1991.
