YEREVAN, OCTOBER 28, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Veterinarian authorities said today they have discovered and destroyed the anthrax nidus in the village of Sarnakunk in the province of Gegharkunik. Local veterinarian authorities said they had thoroughly examined the cattle of the village and of nearby communities. The skin of the infected animal and part of the beef were found and burnt.
In mid October veterinary authorities sought a government assistance to carry out preventive measures against a possible outbreak of anthrax after detecting infected meat in one Yerevan’s retail market for the second time in three months. Veterinary authorities called on the government requesting tighter regulations for meat production and sales.
