armenpress: TURKISH BUSINESSMEN URGE GOVERNMENT TO LIFT BLOCKADE OF ARMENIA

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS: A story in a Moscow-based daily Noviye Izvestia says that Turkish businessmen demand that the government should lift the transport blockade of Armenia, arguing that it sustains damages to Turkish economy in the first place. The daily cites Armenian transport and communication minister Andranik Manukian as saying that Armenia is actually prepared to resume railway communication with Turkey.

Noting that a direct transport link between the two countries will make Turkish-goods sold in Armenia more competitive, profitable for both Turkish businessmen and Armenian consumers, the story makes in inquiry into whether Armenia-manufactured goods will be forced out of domestic market. It quotes Vartan Toghanian, a senior official of a Eurasian organization as saying that it will not happen as Armenia-made goods are of higher quality.
