At the meeting of ministers of culture of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, being held in Antalya within the framework of European Commission “Transition period culture policy: dialogue and new partnership” project, deputy minister of culture and youth affairs of Armenia Karen Aristakesian “called Ankara to reconciliation.” As reported by “Arminfo” agency referring to “Milliet” Turkish newspaper, K. Aristakesian specifically noted, “Hasn’t the time come to become closer and get to know each other better?” The deputy minister emphasized that he was for development of good neighborly relations, which are for the time present possible only in the cultural sphere. According to the source, the minister of culture and tourism of Turkey Erkan Mumjun was satisfied with the call of the Armenian representative. Answering a question on the significance of the European Commission project within the context of the issue of “the Armenian massacre,” the Turkish minister said, “issues referring to history should be discussed by historians,” “Milliet” writes.
